In the days of Jane Austen a man would show his preference to a lady by first introducing himself to her family, and try slowly but surely to win her heart by earning the praise of her family. In those days it was the man who first showed his liking, as it was considered too forward if a lady showed her feelings before a man did, and then the man had to go through a time consuming and sometimes slow process of getting acquainted with the lady’s family as well. This long process was considered the modern equivalent of dating so many decades ago. As years passed and times evolved, men were seen to first try and impress the girl in mind and then tackle the family. After all isnt it the young lady who has to be convinced this is the right person for her?. The first date is generally when both would go out for a meal (most often dinner) and talk about each other’s lives and try to see if it they could handle meeting up again. This is how modern methods of dating evolved over the years.

Analysing dating can be quite an interesting task. It is the time when both parties involved are trying to understand the other person, and so are on their best behavior at all times. Until much later, when both are comfortable with each other, both the man and woman try not to show many of the faults they may have. It is after all the time when two people decide if the other person has the potential to be in their lives for well forever to look at it in a bit of a corny light!. Being confused is probably the most common emotion for many at this time, along with the feeling of euphoria to find someone compatible with you, and maybe the feeling of being truly loved for many lucky ones.

Dating is considered a good way of getting to know another person, as it is in this time that you learn a lot about how compatible you are with the other person. Dating is also an enjoyable time for most as there is a lot of mutual attraction, flirting and both generally enjoy the other person’s company. If, after going through the dating process, either or both of those involved feel like they would not be able to have a long-term relationship, they end the relationship then and there, which bring us to another good thing about dating unless really serious, it can be a totally no-strings-attached approach, which significantly reduces the pressure for both, at least at the beginning.
