Dahle makes some of the best paper shredders available and the company recently unveiled the new CleanTEC series. One of the machines in this series is the 41314, a device that may be just right for your workplace. Here are its strengths and weaknesses, so you can decide if this is the perfect shredder for your needs:

Strengths:

* The 41314 is a cross-cut shredder that's a great choice if you need a lot of security. This device has a Level 3 rating and produces 1/8" x 1-9/16" shreds so you can protect your confidential information.

* This shredder can shred up to 16 sheets a time which is good for a cross-cut model. Also, the device can shred items like paper clips, CD's, DVD's, and credit cards so you'll probably only need one machine for your shredding needs.

* If you're concerned about safety, you'll be glad to know that the 41314 is really safe to use. If something goes wrong when you're shredding, you can tell the machine to stop or tap the top of it to make it stop running.

* The 41314 operates quietly so the people in your office won't get distracted. Also, everyone will be able to stay healthy because this machine's CleanTEC air filtration system will keep harmful paper dust out of the air.

* Saving energy is important these days. Not only is it good for the environment, it can help you save money on energy costs. When you're not using the shredder, it will go in to an energy-saving mode for a little while before shutting down. This will help you conserve power.

* This shredder is equipped with a continuous-duty motor so you can shred non-stop if you need to. (The waste bin can hold up to 23 gallons of shreds.) The machine has an automatic oiler so you won't need to do much to maintain it.

Weaknesses:

* Even though this machine has a good shredding capacity for a cross-cut device, it's not a good choice if you need to shred dozens of sheets at once. A strip-cut unit would be a better choice in that case.

* Although the 41314 can shred CD's, DVD's, and credit cards, it can't shred other multimedia items such as floppy disks.

* If you want a deskside shredder, the 41314 probably isn't the right shredder for you. Its approximate dimensions are 34" (height) x 21.5" (width) x 17" (depth).

Obviously, the Dahle CleanTEC 41314 has a couple of weaknesses but overall, it's an excellent paper shredder. In fact, this is one of the best paper shredders available and it's a great choice for busy workplaces. This machine offers terrific security, the ability to shred some non-paper items, and it has first-rate special features as well as excellent warranty coverage.
