Customizing Your Bike For The Season Ahead Of You With The CatEye EL135 - By: Dave McIntosh

I am not sure where you live but I live in southern Ontario and here we get 6+ months for reasonable cycling. Early in April the bike paths start beckoning me outdoors again. It’s amazing the first ride of the spring, the fresh (cold sometimes) air and the feel of freedom as you travel along the road it seems as fast as the wind. It is great to get back on my bike again. But it is always important to make sure you’re safe by having a light like the CatEye el135 on your bike to make sure you can see well and are seen.

Some people don’t use lights at all (even though it is the law) while others feel they are only for night or early morning when it is dull or dark outside. But if you are riding in traffic it is not a bad idea to use them all day as they make you more visible on the road. Not only that but if you are riding on trails in a wooded area it can be quite dark in there and having you light on will help you see all the bumps and holes in the trail so that you can ride safely.

Starting in the spring you think you have a long time to enjoy the great outdoors yet the great weather doesn’t last forever so I try not to miss a minute. Cycling is a fantastic low-impact way of burning calories and improving your cardiovascular system. It also develops your lower body muscles. All of which is great for your health. Originally that is what got me started but now I have the bug so I’m doing what I enjoy and staying healthy at the same time.

It’s also a wonderful way of getting around. I saw more country this last summer than I ever have, so why take a drive when you can see it under your own power and enjoy the fresh air (sometimes not so fresh) at the same time.

You could also turn your dull commute to work into something that wakes you up and gets you ready for work with an invigorating ride. For some people this might even take less time than driving. Some people say “The sun smiles on cyclists” but I have found out that this is not always true but if you leave your car at home whenever you can, you’ll feel better and save on gas.

You know of course that none of what of what I have been talking about is possible without having the proper cycling equipment. It doesn’t matter what yours or your family’s cycling plans are you will want to stay safe. That means keeping your bikes running smoothly with proper maintenance and making sure everyone rides safe by having and using quality protective gear safety equipment. That means wearing a good helmet every time you ride. And making sure you have good lights like the CatEye el135 so everyone can see you and so you can see properly.

So prepare for the season by customizing your bike and getting ready for the adventures ahead of you.

What are you waiting for? Start getting set for the season ahead of you today.
