There was a time when people used to put curtains in front of their windows that were made of heavy or light fabric depending on the weather conditions in an area. In many countries of the world people still use the old styled curtains at homes to cover their windows for different purposes. Blinds can now be operated with cords, tilt wands, continuous cords etc. The blinds that need to be folded upwards have lock system in their mechanism to prevent the blinds from unfolding and covering the window.
