Everyone would love to have an ultimate custom built to order gaming PC,a dream of every gamer. But unless you win the lottery or a rich Aunt who loved you dies,just keep on dreaming. Remember,someone’s dream machine may be only $4,000.00 while someone else may be $10,000.00. Regardless of your economic situation this article will apply to you. But until you can buy your ultimate Custom Gaming System (however you define it), there are a few things you can do to keep it real.

If you are buying any custom gaming computer,your best bet is to buy and build your own. But this assumes you have the technical savvy, know-how and time to build one. For the sake of argument,let’s say you are that person. So what do you do? First you determine what you need now and in 9 to 12 months. What games are you playing? What “type” of games are you playing? Some games are more GPU intensive while others are more CPU intensive while others are memory intensive. You need to determine your gaming play habits first and then go research products that apply. So now you know what you need. Notice I said what you NEED, not necessarily what you WANT, and BIG difference.

To help in the decision process of what to buy,I suggest you create 4 columns on a sheet of paper. First column is for the gaming components description and its price. It is OK to have 3 processors and 4 graphic cards and 3 different kinds of optical drives and different size of memory from different manufacturers. Go wild here. Dream a little. Why not have a 3rd tier gaming memory from Brand K and first tier memory from Brand M on the list. Make a dream list of components. Next column is marked Need. The third column is marked Want. The fourth column is Able to Afford. Now go fill it in. Each component should have need or want marked along with Able to Afford. Play with it. Can you cut back on the processor in order to afford a faster graphics card? Or more memory? Or a Blu-Ray optical drive instead of just a plain old optical drive? This little exercise will give you a visual on what is possible and what is practical. Plus it is great to show to the parents or husband or wife. They will see you did your research and that you really know what you are doing. Instant credibility that may just help you sells it.

A few words of caution with this little exercise make sure you have all the required components to build a Custom Gaming System. It is very embarrassing going back to the parents,wife or husband and telling them you need to spend more money because you forgot to include a power supply in your configuration. So make sure you put together a complete system. Next,do not go cheap when buying the four key gaming PC components: Processor, Motherboard, Memory and Graphics card. These components must be from tier one suppliers. They must all work together in harmony with one another. Remember the first rule of building a custom gaming PC: “Your gaming PC will be as fast as its slowest part”. Each of these key four components must work together so that they all take advantage of each other’s functions as close to maximum performance as you can get. It will make for a very enjoyable gaming experience and you will not be throwing your system out in 2 months. When it comes to building you Custom Gaming System, keep it real to your situation and you will enjoy your system for years to come.
