Whether you are moving house, renovating your current one or simply want a change of look for those windows, choosing which window dressings you want can have a major effect on the look and feel of a room. So should you choose blinds or curtains?

Blinds can be more trouble as they collect dust, but they are infinitely more versatile. Curtains meanwhile can be more effective at blocking out light that many types of blind and can be made to look very attractive, but can also take up much more space. It appears, they both have many benefits and many disadvantages at the same time, and ultimately there is a good chance that a different option will be more suitable for different rooms. For instance, having curtains in the bedroom may be more useful when you are desperate for a good night's sleep and don't want that pesky sun coming along and waking you up.

However, there is also a third option. Window shutters are becoming increasingly popular as the window dressing of choice. They are much more effective at giving you total control over the amount of light or air a room receives, and will often be a much more attractive and stylish addition to a home.

They can give you the freedom to block out as much or as little light as possible without being big and bulky and in turn making a room look smaller and more cramped. For those living in London shutters are almost certainly going to be the perfect choice.

Window shutters are also durable, help reduce exterior noise (or keep noise in if that's what you prefer) and bring an additional safety aspect to your house, whilst making any room look as spacious and attractive as possible. So, if you are renovating that house in London shutters may be the very best place for you to start.
