Everyone deserves a sense of privacy. When you get home after a day's work, you just want to kick back, relax and enjoy your home. Some people do it in sweats, some in underwear and some even likes being naked. Whatever you like to wear or do inside your home, you can do it because it is the only place you can. However, you can never do it if the whole world can see you. That was the idea behind curtains. However, curtains are so last season. People have said goodbye already to these types of window coverings because they are heavy. When you wash your curtains, you need full-on sunlight to make it dry, especially if the fabric is thick. Some people even spend money on dry cleaning. If you are not the type of person who likes laundry, you must replace your old, drapery and dusty curtains with window shades.

Window shades are the next best thing after curtains. They are not that prone to dirt and dust and they are very easy to clean. Since blinds are water-proof, you can easily uninstall it and wash it with a mixture of soap and water. You can pat it dry or you can also leave it hanging for a while. If you think that uninstalling it is difficult, it is not. Actually, you do not need to be handy in nature to do it. Just a little push and slide and it is back on. However, if you really do not want to go through all that trouble and your blinds are not really that dirty, you can just damp it with cloth and it would perfectly new again.

Before you purchase your window treatments, you must know a few key things first. First of all, there are many types of window treatments and you need to familiarize yourself with each one first before you settle on just anything. Among the most popular would be the Venetian blinds, Roman blinds, Bamboo shades, Patio blinds, Horizontal and Vertical window treatments, etc. Why do you need to know everything? It is because each one has a one of a kind style, purpose and function. When you are buying something, of course you too have a reason why you are buying it. Say, if you need something for the outside of your house, of course, you would buy patio blinds. You cannot just buy something and not know what it is for.

Another thing you should keep in mind would be the budget. How much are you willing to spend? There are those that are willing to spend more but some wants to spend less. Stick to that budget because there are really many options in the market.

Also take into consideration the design and the measurement of your window treatments. You wouldn't want to buy something that when you go home, is not the proper size or the design is off for your room.

Know these things before buying anything so that you can save energy, time and effort too.
