1.Good results can be obtained by gently dabbing witch hazel extract on the anus, which can relieve pain and help cure the hemorrhoid. Witch hazel is a natural product made from the leaves and bark of a shrub.

It is an over-the-counter astringent and can be found in any drug store or super market. Sold in distilled liquid, ointment or medicated pads, it contracts blood vessels, reduces the swelling and stops bleeding. A good idea is to keep the witch hazel into the refrigerator to keep it cold before applying it.

2.Do not use dry toilet paper. Instead, use moist towelettes that contain no alcohol or perfume. Alcohol is drying, which will cause more cracking and bleeding, and perfume is likely to cause an infection in a broken hemorrhoid. The most towelettes will help relieve the pain and, unlike dry toilet paper, will not irritate the hemorrhoid.

3.The pain of hemorrhoids can be relieved by taking a warm bath. It will increase blood flow that will help reduce the swelling of the veins. If a busy schedule does not allow for a full bath, there is a plastic seat sold in drug stores and retail stores that can be placed on top of the toilet and filled with several inches of warm water. Sitting in this is easy and takes the place of a full bath with a lot
less time but it accomplishes the same purpose.

4.Do not hold your bowel movement, which will tend to harden the stool and make it more difficult to pass, inflaming the hemorrhoids. If you feel the need of a call of nature, go right away. Do not wait. Also, do not strain. If you are constipated, try increasing your intake of fluids or taking a stool softener before going to bed so that in the morning you can have a bowel movement without straining.

Because humans stand upright, there is a downward pressure on our veins everywhere in the body, and this includes the ones in the anal canal and rectum. If a person is obese, this will put added pressure on the veins, so obese people will be even more affected by gravity. Therefore, people with hemorrhoids should
avoid prolonged standing which can exacerbate the problem.
