Radiology: Radiology is that branch of medical field which uses the imaging technology for the diagnosis and treatment of a medical condition. Radiologists use a plethora of techniques such as X-Ray Radiography, Ultrasound, Nuclear Medicine, Positron Emission Tomography (PET), Computerized Tomography (CT) and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI).

Computerized Tomography (CT): This imaging technique is best suited for the diagnosis of Lung and chest imaging, bone imaging and cancer detection. It uses X-ray attenuation procedure. It provides a comprehensive detail about the bony structures. In this technique, the radiation is passed through the body and received by the detector which is then completely integrated by computer and a cross sectional image is obtained which is displayed on the screen. The entire procedure takes 5-10 minutes for completion.

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI): This technology on the other hand is used extensively for scanning ligament and tendon injury, spinal cord injury and brain tumors etc. The basic principal behind its operation is that our body is composed of a lot of water and hence protons which get aligned to a large magnetic field produce an image. No biological hazards have been reported due to this technique so far. It is a very versatile imaging solution and can be used for a variety of medical conditions.
