Creativity Finds No Limits At Martin Door - By: Eric Cohen

The extruded aluminum Archest doors feature real copper metal panels, use a custom powdercoat color, not available in the catalog, and also feature a unique bronze color glass. The result is a trio of hybrid doors, sure to turn heads.Intermountain Martin Doors installed the doors. Owner Jeff Barker points out the evolution to a unique door took a path unlike any other install he's ever done.An architect overseeing the renovation, originally planned on putting three wood doors on the home but was talked out of it when builder Brian Dowsept, suggested the doros would be especially high maintenance because of their exposure to the sun.

Once options were opened, it was the homeowner's son who got involved and helped develop the unique door. Taking a picture of the home, the boy----described as a computer geek---accessed pictures from Martin Door's Design-Online program, which he superimposed into the picture of their home.Initially, Barker said there was sentiment to install copper doors, to match with flashing on the home, but it evolved to a powdercoat Archcrest door, in a powdercoat color matching the entry fence and elements of the home. Martin officials were happy to find the color and special order it. Then the idea of taking out the aluminum panels in the doors and replacing them with copper came up and Barker said customer service officials at Martin didn't say no to that either.

To take it a step further, Martin officials build several sample panels of the unique door, which when presented to the owner and builder, cemented the job.Martin's ability to create a unique door for each customer, just took on unlimited possibilities.Scott says Martin utilizes either acrylic, tempered or laminated glass, all of which offer safety options, limiting the risk of broken glass in the case of an accident or incident. The engineering director said Martin Door Manufacturing does not use glass that breaks into chards.

The laminated glass sourced by Martin comes with two pieces of glass laminated together with piece of plastic between the layers, similar to a car windshield. This adds a measure of security nearly as strong as if it were solid aluminum. Some other brand doors simply take a commercial style service station door and convert it into a residential door, with little or no regard to homeowner safety. When Martin designed its all glass door, it did so with safety in mind. Martin residential garage doors come with over 30 key safety and long life upgrades standard.
