Creating A Capsule Wardrobe - By: Jamie Simpson

If you are constantly looking for things to wear in your wardrobe while finding that you seem to have lots of clothes to begin with, you might be a good candidate for a capsule wardrobe. This is often the case for women who have lots of clothes yet who feel as if nothing they have seems to go with anything else. When you rethink your wardrobe of women's clothing and make it one that works for your lifestyle, then you will have a capsule wardrobe. While it will not solve all of your dilemmas over which clothes to wear overnight, it will make the process significantly easier.

The concept of the capsule wardrobe is rather simple; the goal is to make you spend less time worrying over your style and more time wearing what you want and what you will feel comfortable with, regardless of the situation. Although there is a considerable amount of variety from one woman's capsule wardrobe to the next, you will probably find a few common classic items and essentials across those wardrobes, and it is worth reviewing these essentials to give you some ideas as you begin to build your own capsule.

First of all, since the capsule wardrobe is designed to work with everything, you will want to find items that are timeless and high quality, such as items made from cotton, cashmere, and silk. They should include only the most flattering cuts, as they are an investment in your personal style. The times will be designed to transcend the trends of fashion from one year to the next, no matter what is "in" or "out."

As a result, you will want to look for items and key pieces that are based in neutral colours that blend with the natural colouring of your body. Depending on your style, you might want to stay away from black, but there are also some people who look radiant in black, so that is a decision that will vary from one woman to the other.

According to the creators of the capsule wardrobe, the ideal wardrobe will include materials such as a skirt or a dress for formal occasions, two pairs of tailored trousers, a coat, a well-fitting jacket, a smart cardigan or a casual jacket, and a few good pairs of shoes. Of course, what are considered a few good pairs of shoes will vary from one woman to the next, but in general it is recommended that ladies should have a pair of flats they can rely on and a pair of shoes with just a bit of heel; kitten heels are a good example.

Two kinds of bags are also good to keep on hand. You will want a smaller one for formal occasions and a larger one that is fit for use on a daily basis. It is also not a bad idea to have a few additional trend defying items such as boot cut jeans, fitted shirts, leather boots, and high heels, but these will vary with your needs.
