Some people think they are constipated if they do not have a bowel group every day. However, normal stool removal may be three times a day or three times a week, depending on the person.

Constipation means dissimilar things to different people. For many people, it simply means uncommon stools. For others, however, constipation means hard stools, complexity passing stools (straining), or a sense of partial emptying after a bowel pressure group.

Constipation is determined in the colon (large intestine), which is in charge for packaging and eliminate stool.

As food moves from end to end the colon, it absorbs water while forming stool. Muscle contractions (squeezing motions) in the colon push the stool in the direction of the rectum (the lower 8 to 10 inches of the large intestine).

Causes of Constipation

2. If you are women, do you have to put a finger in your vagina on the way to help pass the stool from the back passage? This most likely means you have a rectocele, a weakness in the supporting tissues between the vagina and rectum.

3. If you are women, did the constipation start after childbirth or after hysterectomy? Hysterectomy may sometimes damage the delicate nerve fibres linked to the bowel.

4. Have you gained weight and tend to feel the cold, maybe with dry or thinning hair? You might have an underactive thyroid, which can also cause constipation.

Symptoms of Constipation

Constipation continuing over a long period may lead to swelling of the stomach and severe discomfort. If you feel constipation continue for some time, it may lead to a feeling of like:

1. Heaviness in the abdomen
2. Headaches
3. Lethargy
4. Nausea
5. Loss of appetite
6. Vomiting

Constipation Treatment

Constipation is decrease in the regularity of stool (i.e. body's waste product) or problem in the formation or passage of stool. It is a very common problem. It is a myth that if you don’t have a bowel movement daily, you are constipated.

In fact, there are not as such defined numbers of bowel movements for a day. These can vary from person to person, depending on their diet and lifestyle. As per doctors, if you have less than three bowel movements in a week, you are definitely constipated.

Home Remedies for Constipation

Regular drinking of water is highly beneficial for cleaning the system. Normally 6-8 glasses of water are recommended for digesting and dissolving the food nutrients.

Eating chapatti made of wheat (two parts) and roast black gram powder (one part) along with their husk is also beneficial and is good constipation remedy.

To make good home remedy for constipation take 2 tablespoons of Blackstrap molasses before going to sleep. Molasses are high in calories. It has a strong taste, though; you may want to add it to milk, fruit juice, or prune juice etc.

Walking 4-5 kms. After dinner is highly useful as it helps in the digestion of food.

Half cup cabbage juice taken twice-daily cures constipation.
Mango is a natural reliever of constipation.

Dip 10-12 dry grapes without seeds in milk and boil the milk. Drink the milk disjointedly and chew the grapes. This is more beneficial when taken at night. This is one of the useful home remedies for constipation.
