Constipation is defined as have a bowel movement less than three times per week.

Medical definition of constipation is “fewer than three bowel actions a week.” Normal bowel movement pattern is one bowel association per day. However less than 50% of people have this kind of perfect bowel association.

Most of the people have between 3 and 21 bowel movements per day which is relatively a normal condition.

Causes of Constipation

Constipation is a result of faulty lifestyle and irregular consumption habits. Faulty life style includes irregular sleeping habits, uneven eating habits, emotional disturbances and lack of physical activities or exercise.

1. Not including enough leafy and green vegetables,salads etc in the diet
2. Not having enough roughage or high fiber food in diet
3. Insufficient intake of water
4. Excessive intake of animal protein which are difficult to digest
5. Excessive use of burly tea and coffee

Symptoms of Constipation

The most ordinary symptoms of constipation are uncommonly, indiscretion of complexity of elimination due to hard faecal matter.

Among the other symptoms are coated tongue, foul breath, loss of appetite, headache, dizziness, dark circles under the eyes, gloominess, nausea, pimples on the face, ulcer in the mouth, constant fullness in the abdomen, diarrhea flashing with constipation, varicose veins, pain in the lumber region, acidity, heart be ablaze and insomnia.

Treatment of Constipation

One of the main ways to prevent and treat constipation is by modifying your child's diet.

This includes decreasing foods that are constipating, counting cow's milk, bananas, yogurt, cheese, cooked carrots and other foods that are low in fiber.

For children that drink a lot of milk, soy milk is a good option, as it is usually much less constipating than cow's milk.

Home Remedies for Constipation

Regular drinking of water is highly valuable for cleaning the system. Normally 6-8 glasses of water are not compulsory for digesting and dissolve the food nutrients.

Eating chapatti made of wheat (two parts) and roast black gram powder (one part) along with their husk is also valuable and is good constipation remedy.

To make good home remedy for constipation take 2 tablespoons of Blackstrap molasses before going to sleep. Molasses are high in calories. It has a strong taste, though; you may want to add it to milk, fruit juice, or prune juice etc.

Walking 4-5 kms. after dinner is highly beneficial as it helps in the absorption of food.

Half cup cabbage juice taken twice-daily cures constipation.
Mango is a natural reliever of constipation.

Mix 1/4 teaspoon of Epsom salt to 1/2 a glass of water and drink. This is a superior constipation remedy.

Mix 1/2 cup olive oil with 1/2 cup orange juice and drink. This is one more practical natural remedy for constipation.
