Constant Headaches - By: Marcia McWhite

The brain is one of the most fragile sections yet it is one of the most vital division of the human body. It has the duty of directing all our bodily functions, the way we think, behave and go about our business in our environment. With all these duties at hand, the brain can sometimes experience aches and pains that can disrupt a person’s regular daily functions. Headaches serves as a warning sign that there is a disorder somewhere in the body or in the nervous system.

Many persons suffer from constant headaches throughout their lives. Headaches that occur constantly over an extended period of time are referred to as chronic headaches and can often be characterized by a throbbing pain in the head that can either affect one or both sides of the head. Headaches are often connected to tension build up in the body. Tension forms in the body due to squeezing in the muscles of the head, neck, shoulders, back, jaw, scalp or any other region that can be forced to become stressed. Lack of proper sleep, stress whether from home, at work or emotional stress with family, depression, anxiety are all factors that lead to tension in the body. Persons with chronic headaches can also be linked to gastrointestinal problems and sensitive to light and sound and can lead to them feeling dizzy and nauseas.

Sleep is necessary to revitalize the body and is one of the body’s best therapeutic treatments. A good night’s rest can make the difference between a full day of constant headaches or a long day of optimal performance. Whenever the body does not get enough rest it automatically minimizes your daily performance and causes a lot of tension resulting in constant headaches. Exercising often can also help individuals to relax more and also helps you to rest easier. Exercise improves blood and oxygen circulation, takes care of the muscles which translates to less tension in the body, these qualities lessens the chances of you feeling a headache.

A persons daily diet can be connected to having constant headaches. A diet low in certain fibers, fruits, vegetables and vitamins and plenty fluid is leading up to constant headaches. Persons should ensure that their diet is enriched with all the nutrients and minerals needed to make the body function at its best. There are also certain foods that are more likely to trigger off headaches, especially if you are sensitive to certain foods. Dairy foods such as chocolate, cheese are known to set off migraine headaches and flavor enhancers like MSG.

Consuming too much caffeine can also start off constant headaches. Caffeine is normally taken to increase awareness and provide energy for a long day, but too much of this can lead to overwhelming anxiety and constant headaches. Substances found in the environment can trigger off headaches such as the carbom monoxide which exit a vehicle. Migraine headaches may also be caused by depression, high blood pressure, eye problems, and allergies and can cause vomiting. There is also what is considered as cluster headaches caused from shock to the head, such as those from an accident, brain tumors, seizures, strokes and inflamed arteries and other sicknesses.

The best way to treat constant headaches is to avoid habits that will lead it to happen. Pain medicine can help to reduce pain but using too much can still lead to more pain. For severe cases of chronic headaches, such as those that last for a very long time there are holistic remedies on the market for it, and in some rare cases even surgery is used.
