Confectionery at the point of sale - By: Arthor Greenwald

Any shop’s check out counter is the ideal place for your point of sale. You can locate it as close to the cash till as possible and due to this being the focal point for impulse purchases attractive point of sale displays are a great investment – this is precisely why you will see extra shelves close to the checkout in every supermarket, because they pick up plenty of last minute impulse purchases whilst people stand in the queue.

However what type of point of sale should you use if you run a gift shop? And how best do you display your stock to ensure high sales?

Here are some tips on how best to use point of sale in your shop to display products, and in particular the ever popular confectionery:

When using point of sale displays aim to use bulk wrapped confectionery instead of the bulk unwrapped varieties. This is simply due to the convenience to the customer and the quicker and easier you can make the purchase process the more merchandise you’re likely to shift.

For a customer to buy unwrapped sweets they will need to set down their shopping, get a sweet bag ready and then scoop up the selected sweets. This may not sound too complicated but if you are laden down with shopping this is enough to put you off buying.

With wrapped versions you can create a stunning display that allows the customer to simply scoop out what they need with their hand. Perhaps use goldfish bowl containers or freestanding lollipop trees to tempt customers near the cash till. The bright colours of the confectionery packets help to attract people into purchasing.

Here at Tradewind Displays we have a great range of point of sale products to choose from, including acrylic stands that are ideal for displaying items such as confectionery.
