Conditions that Bring About Back Pain - By: Bloake

There are several types of common causes for lower back pain and it has been one of the most painful experiences for a worker or any person who is hard working. Here are some of those causes.

Strain on the Lumbar

What is a stretch injury to the ligaments, tendons and muscles in the lower back? That is of course the condition called lumbar strain. It can become both acute and chronic. The stretching of those ligaments and others in the same area can result from very small microscopic tears of numerous and varying degrees in the tissues. This is also the most common cause of lower back pain. There are a lot of causes for this cause. It can be from overuse or not proper use of muscles or from an incident or a trauma. A soft – tissue injury is normally classified as acute when it has been present for days to weeks. When it would go longer than that, like for example more than three months, the condition could be considered chronic. This strain usually happens to most people that are in their 40s but medically it can happen in any age. This pain is identified by a common discomfort or annoying pain in the lower back area when after having something that has stressed the lumbar tissues. The pain could start by being mild and end up being severe; it just depends on what degree of strain and the resulting spasm of the muscles of the lower back.

Irritation of the Nerves

Another type of lower back pain cause is the nerve irritation which is the nerves of the lumbar spine that has been irritated by a mechanical pressure. This happens because of the pressure by bones or tissues or it can happen due to a disease, anything and anywhere that could go along the path from the roots at the spinal cord to the skin surface. The conditions that can be included are lumbar disc disease, bony encroachment and inflammation of the nerves that have been cause by shingles.

Radiculopathy of the Lumbar

Next on the list is lumbar radiculopathy which is a type of nerve irritation caused by the damage experienced by the discs between the vertebrae. This happens due to the wear and tear effect or the degeneration of the outer ring of the disc. It can also be from a traumatic injury or it can also be both. This will then result to a rupture of the central portion of the disc through the outer ring of the disc and adjacent to the spinal cord or its nerves as they exit the spinal column which is bony in structure. This is what mostly causes sciatica, a condition that shoots pain down to the lower back and the buttocks all the way to the leg.

If for some reason you are feeling these pains in your body, better get yourself checked up by your physician so that it can be treated easily when it is in its earlier stages
