Components Of A House - By: Adam Waterford

A house is composed of numerous parts. Although there are several types of interior and exterior planning practiced these days, including modern ones, the same basic or fundamental principles are still applied in designing a structure.

One of a house’s elements is a window. Windows are openings which allow ventilation and view of the outdoors. There are many kinds of windows, such as awning windows, jalousie windows, casement windows, and others. A window can be installed using different materials, although most windows today are made of something that can support glass.

Another component of a house is the roof. Roofs exist to protect the interior of a house from any kind of weather. During sunny days, roofs decrease heat which not only can damage the furniture inside the house, but also affect the health of the people who inhabit it. And on rainy days, roofs can prevent raindrops from entering the house’s interior.

In Virginia, some areas such as Arlington County, Alexandria City, and Fairfax City install creative types of home components. In Arlington, for instance, different kinds of sidings are attached to one’s house to improve aesthetics and safety of the house. An Arlington siding is basically fixed to a house’s wall or roof surface to reduce water damage. This particular house element also protects the structure from severe weather conditions.

On the other hand, doors Alexandria houses are commonly built with, serve as entry or access points from the outside to the inside of a house or vice versa. Doors can also have different sorts, each having a different set of features and advantages. Hinged doors, for example, are doors that are bolted on the side to be opened either by pushing or pulling. These doors are the most used and traditional doors.

Sliding Fairfax doors, on the other hand, are doors that can both be functional and artistic. Because of the doors’ tracks which can be found on its upper and lower portion, users can apply lesser effort in opening them. Also, this door is not the everyday door used in most houses, which makes it appealing and unique to the eyes of people.
