The family of a man who died in a road accident have been successful in their motorcycle accident claim. In November 2008, Garry Corbin was travelling to work on his motorbike early in the morning when a van collided with him and then accidentally ran him over, the Portsmouth News reports.

After being taken to hospital, the 30-year-old father-of-three lost his life due to the severity of his injuries.

He was on a red and white Yamaha and was travelling on Hamble Lane at Netley Abbey when the incident took place.

Last year, van driver Neil Foley admitted causing death by dangerous driving during a hearing at Southampton Crown Court. He was ordered to do 200 hours of unpaid work and was banned from driving for two-and-a-half years.

Meanwhile, in a new development, his insurers have offered Mr Corbin's family compensation of £550,000.

In a statement, his relatives said: "Garry had a natural zest for life and always made people around him smile. We can never put into words the loss we feel or the fact three children will grow up without a father.

"Our close-knit family has been devastated and sadly no sentence today will be able to compensate for our loss. Garry will remain in our thoughts and hearts as the wonderful fun-loving and caring man that he was."

Meanwhile, his manager Chris Owen, who was in charge of him at the Marina Marbella boat dealership in Hamble where he was a service manager, remarked at the time: "He touched everybody with his humour and his professional way of working."

The High Court still needs to approve the deal because Mr Corbin's three children are minors.
