Comparing Soft with Aluminum Gun Cases - By: Shannon Hilson

Have you noticed the trend towards aluminum rifle cases today? Why are so many gun owners switching to them? Smart gun owners use aluminum gun cases because they care about their firearms and want to ensure they are always kept in tip-top shape. Wise gun owners know that their guns can be very dangerous if not treated with the proper respect. There are so many reasons for choosing aluminum over soft cases, it's amazing that anyone at all stores a weapon in a soft case.

You wouldn't leave your rifle sitting out in the rain, would you? You wouldn't want it to be constantly exposed to dirt, dust and other debris that can affect its performance and shorten its life span, either. If you take pride in your rifle and always keep it clean, you're not going to want to just throw it in a bag when you take it out hunting or to the rifle range. That's why gun owners who take pride in their firearms always choose aluminum rifle cases. Unlike soft cases, they are fully sealed and aluminum gun cases have high density foam interiors that cushion rifles from shock.

Now consider what you get with a case made from a soft material. Even if the label says it is made from water-resistant or waterproof material, experience will show you that while the material may be waterproof, the seams and zippers are not. Who is to say that you won't be out in the woods hunting when a sudden rain storm comes? If you've ever been out camping and used a "waterproof tent," you already know that water can and does find its way into the tent. The same thing is true of soft cases, but not aluminum rifle cases.

When you think about it, it becomes clear that aluminum rifle cases are far superior to soft cases for the protection of your rifles when you're outdoors. Imagine yourself out in the woods carrying a soft case over your shoulder. It swings about and if the terrain is uneven or you're moving fast, you need both hands free when you're on the move. It's easy for the case to shift away from your body and knock against a tree or a stone. What if the rifle has a scope attached to it? You know how sensitive rifle scopes are. Just a tiny bump can throw it off and it becomes virtually useless. A marksman needs his scope to be perfectly adjusted and so do you. Only aluminum gun cases provide the level of protection your scope needs.

Those are just some of the practical reasons why aluminum rifle cases are better than soft case. Hunting season doesn't last all year, though, so why would you need to keep your rifle stored in an aluminum case throughout the rest of the year when it's not in use?

When a rifle is not being used by you, it must be stored in such a way that others cannot get to it. Aluminum rifle cases can be locked securely so that nobody can use your gun when you're not around. Soft cases provide no security at all against unwanted access to your firearms, while aluminum gun cases provide a great deal of security.

Can you think of a single reason why you would purchase a soft firearm case? You can't, can you? What about price? Can you afford to buy high quality aluminum rifle cases? Yes, you can. They are very cheap and because they are so tough, they last longer than soft cases, too.
