Comparative Review of the Toshiba Satellite L735 and MacBook Pro 13 - By: Greg Neal

Trying to get the most bang for your buck is pretty much the dominant shopping theme these days, and we are seeing more and more people searching for what are labeled as "entry" level laptops which can be sold at reduced prices but still have relatively high quality performance. The MacBook Pro and Toshiba Satellite L735 are representative of this kind of laptop within their own brands. They might be at the bottom of the food chain on their respective manufacturers, but they still have some serious firepower when it comes to design and performance. But which of these two is the top deal? Which performs better? Which is more chic? Which is more strong? Let's tackle these questions one by one as these laptops face each other in a blow by blow performance battle. This article is going to do a little comparison between both of these high quality laptops and maybe when you are through reading this, you will be in a better position to decide which one is best for you.

Price

Comparing these two machines in terms of prices is like comparing apples to oranges. The Toshiba L735 sells at $800 while the MacBook Pro 13'' sells $200 higher at $ 1,045. So if you have a quite tight budget, the L735 is a better choice but if you have a better room in your pocket, then the MacBook can be a reputable choice.

Build And Design

The glossy Toshiba fusion finish is a real eye catcher, with its read and black dot matrix design and probably outshines the MacBook in this aspect. The MacBook doesn't come across as flashy, but it carries more of soft-spoken simple design that is very appealing. Of course you have that well recognized apple logo along with a backlit keyboard. Which is better in terms of looks is pretty much a personal value choice on the part of the consumer.

The Toshiba on the other hand is covered by glossy designs making it a fingerprint magnet which you would not really like. On the lighter side of things, the MacBook Pro has a neater design.Model Durability

The MacBook Pro is by far the most durable notebook available in the market. Its aluminum body highly outsmarts the plastic body design of Toshiba L735. It never bends even if applied with great pressure, making the MacBook Pro a durable notebook if you are the type of person who travels heavily. The Toshiba L735 has a poor build due to its plastic body. It bends easily and it is really not recommended for heavy travelling. Durability-wise, the MacBook is a better choice and it leaves the Toshiba L375 by a mile.

Heat And Noise

Due to the MacBook Pro's aluminum body, its temperature suffers with it having a maximum 115 degrees Farenheit and minimum of 81 degrees Farenheit. The Toshiba L735 is a lot cooler running at 79 degrees Farenheit to 98 degrees Farenheit when used extensively. Temperature-wise, the Toshiba L735 is a ‘cooler' unit.

Baterry Life

Another aspect which the MacBook Pro wins the game by a mile, the MacBook Pro runs at a maximum of 8 hours when used extensively while the Toshiba runs at 5 hours top. When used extensively, the Toshiba runs at 4 hours top while the MacBook Pro lasts up to 5 hours.

Performance

It is pretty much a dead heat as far as overall performance is concerned. Both laptops can handle 720p to 1080 HD games with ease. Along with this, video can play out at 38-42fps on both models. Easy, quick upgrades are available with both the Toshiba and MacBook, making these laptops pretty much co-equals in this category.

Conclusion

If you can afford the $1045 budget, the MacBook Pro really is a better choice with its superior build, design and durability. But the Toshiba Satellite L735 is also a good contender and can perform at its best even at $800. If you have a tight budget, the Toshiba is a better choice.
