CompTIA Network Plus Training Courses Uncovered - By: Jason Kendall

In the UK today, commercial institutions could not function efficiently were it not for support workers fixing PC's and networks, while giving advice to users on a day to day basis. Due to the progressively complex nature of technological advances, growing numbers of IT professionals are being sought to specialise in the many areas we've become dependent on.

'In-Centre' days can be offered as a strong aspect by some certification companies. If you talk to many computer industry students that have tried them out, you'll discover that they're really a waste of time mainly due to the following:

* Constant travelling - quite a distance away usually.

* Asking for time off work - many trainers provide Mon-Fri class availability and typically group 2-3 days together. To be honest, this doesn't suit working people, especially when travel time is included.

* Most of us find four weeks vacation allowance isn't enough by far. Knock off a good 50 percent of that for study workshops and see your problems doubled.

* Workshop days usually get fully subscribed quite quickly, giving us the only option of the '2nd best' solution.

* The pace of the class - workshops normally consist of students of mixed talent, so there is often tension between students with more background knowledge and those who prefer a more relaxed pace.

* Many students talk of the high costs involved with getting to and from the facility and paying for food and accommodation can get very high.

* You should never risk any chance of getting ignored for potential advancement or wage increases because your employer knows you're retraining.

* We all avoid posing questions in a room full of other trainees - so we don't appear ignorant.

* Working away from home - many trainees find they're living or working away for part of the program. Events are problematic to attend, yet you've already coughed up the readies as part of your fees.

It has to make a lot more sense to study at your convenience - not your training provider's - and use virtual lab environments with videos of your instructors. If anything comes up, logon to the 24x7 support facility (that you should have insisted on for any technical study.) Don't forget, if you've got a notebook PC, you can study just about anywhere. All the lessons can be repeated whenever you like - memory is aided by repetition. And note-taking is a thing of the past - everything is laid on for you. While there's no way this can take away all study problems, it surely removes stress and makes things simpler. You've also got less travel, costs and hassle.

Review the following facts carefully if you've been persuaded that the sales ploy of a guarantee for your exam looks like a reason to buy:

It's very clear we're still being charged for it - it's not so hard to see that it's been inserted into the overall figure from the training provider. It's definitely not free (it's just marketing companies think we'll fall for anything they say!) Evidence shows that if a student pays for their own exams, at the time of taking them, they will be much more likely to pass first time - since they are conscious of the cost and will therefore apply themselves appropriately.

Why should you pay a training company in advance for examinations? Hold on to your money and pay for the exam when you take the exam, instead of paying any mark-up - and do it locally - not at somewhere of their bidding. A surprising number of current training course providers secure big margins through charging for exam fees early and banking on the fact that many won't be taken. Pay heed to the fact that, with most 'Exam Guarantees' - the company decides when you are allowed to have another go. You will have to demonstrate an excellent pass-rate before they'll approve a re-take.

VUE and Prometric examinations are in the region of 112 pounds in the UK. What's the point of paying huge charges for 'Exam Guarantees' (often hidden in the cost) - when the best course materials, the right level of support and study, commitment and preparing with good quality mock and practice exams is what will really guarantee success.
