Smoke alarms are important for every home and business places. In case of fire, everyone inside the house or office will know and react quickly. Smoke alarms give a beeping sound increasing in intensity when they detect heat or smoke in its surroundings. There are times when the alarm continues to beep even when there is no heat or smoke. If this happens, then be cautious not to completely turn it off or remove the batteries. A smoke alarm that is switched off makes the home defenseless to fires. It is not to mention that this is against the law. Smoke alarm beeps because of some reasons, they are explained below;

Check the battery
One reason why smoke alarm continues to beep or chirp is because of its low battery. For solving the problem, it is essential to replace the batteries as quick as possible. If the batteries have been replaced and the problem still does finish then the best way is to call a technician to have a proper look at the problem. The quicker the smoke alarm is fixed, it will the better and safer for the family.

Dirt or insects
If there are insects trapped in the device, the smoke alarm will continue to beep and chirp. Buildup of dirt in the optical detector is another cause. These outside elements block e sensitivity of the alarm from even detecting a little amount of heat or smoke. For avoiding this, the alarm should be cleaned and the dust and the insects have to keep away from the house. This will not only keep the alarm free from insects and dust but will also keep the private area free from possible allergies.

Checking the wiring
Besides the battery level and blockage in the sensor, it is possible that the smoke alarm may have been improperly wired or wiring might be worn out. In fact this case only applies to AC or AC/DC smoke detectors. If the wiring is stranded, the detector will make a beeping sound after every five seconds, the orange in the smoke alarms have to be checked. Incase if its stranded, then the best solution is to call an electrician and get the wiring in the detector fixed.

Installation of smoke alarms
It is important to install smoke alarms properly for their correct functioning. They must be installed on the ceiling or the wall where no other object will block its detector and it will be visible to everyone in the surroundings. The smoke alarm should be checked at least once every month for making sure that there are no faults in the wires.

Many smoke alarms are not very expensive and last for nearly a decade. Homeowners are encouraged to install at least one smoke alarm.
