Common Mistakes Newbies Make in Internet Marketing - By: A Wolski

The first common mistake that new internet marketers often make is trying to learn too much too quickly, thus making it a very slow start. You learn as you go. Sometimes you will get it wrong but your will learn the right way very quickly from your mistakes.

Some others will read every book they can get their hands on, trying to learn everything about the business. Although it is a good habit, you can overdo it. Reading more and more books does not necessarily equate to making more and more money. Most of them are just self help books aimed toward the internet marketer. Besides, what works for the authors of these books may not work for you.

Internet marketing has nothing to do with your previous offline work achievements. Every person who goes into this form of marketing starts from scratch. Basically, we all need to follow a system in order to achieve our marketing goals and there are numerous people out there who will mentor you in getting up and going. In network marketing, those in your upline are there to help you. Don’t be afraid to ask for help.

Just like anything else, network marketing takes time to provide financial rewards that you can support yourself on. Some people actually leave their jobs to become network marketers. Huge mistake!!! Make sure your marketing business is financially viable before even thinking about leaving your current employment.

Trying to get others to buy the opportunity. This is seen as nothing more than recruitment and is not selling something of use to others. This perception will have an adverse effect on your credibility.

New distributors tend to beg people to join up instead of helping them to realise that the opportunity is a good one and in their best interests.

Another mistake is to try to explain the business by telephone. It is very rare to be able to close a deal without any face to face contact. You should only telephone a prospective client to invite them to find out more about what you have to offer.

Some new network marketers will lie to prospects through embarrassment when asked if it is MLM or network marketing. Remember, if you lie, your prospect will lose trust in you. They will probably choose not to join you for fear that they may be expected to lie to prospects as well.

It is also a mistake to tell people how much money you are making. Some people will find this offensive and feel you are trying to make out you are much more successful than they are. It is not necessary to try to show how amazing you are. Successful networkers are confident and display leadership.

A lot of newbies fail to keep in touch with their upline which is a necessity in network marketing as business duplicates. When your upline helps you, they are also helping themselves as they will be rewarded financially for your success just as you will be rewarded financially when anyone in your downlines is successful. Communicate…communicate…communicate.

It is also important that you don’t take it personally when a prospect chooses not to take up the opportunity. It may be something in their own psyche that stops them. Fear of failure is a common drawback. Besides, they may change their mind later on.

Some newbies are not particularly convincing because they haven’t tried the product themselves. When you try it yourself, you make a good testimonial because you believe in your product and it shows.

So, if you’re serious about making a success of your network marketing business, just watch out for the above pitfalls. Avoiding these should make your path to success a little smoother.
