Cleaning Your Treadmill - By: Dan Brathers

It is always important to care for any form of equipment that you have purchased. After all, it is your money that was spent. Maintenance is very important. If the machine that you purchased isn?t maintained properly, there may be some harsh consequences that you may have to suffer in the future.
Maintaining a treadmill really doesn?t require a lot of work. All it takes is maybe a few minutes to properly look after your machine. With treadmills, the only things that you may usually have to worry about are the belt of the machine, dirt, and sweat.

The belt of the machine is probably the most important part of it. If this isn?t properly maintained, then this could possibly ruin your machine. It is recommended to check up on this monthly. Make sure that the belt is correctly aligned and tightened. After using the machine a few times, the belt may be a bit loose. This is natural. However, keep a tight eye on the screws. They should be tight but not too tight. A simple turn will do. If problems occur it?s best to contact the manufacturer. Also, be careful about lubricating the belt. Most treadmills don?t require lubrication; however, some models need them. The information that you receive when purchasing your treadmill will you inform you about this.

Leaving sweat on the treadmill can ruin the belt of your treadmill and is simply just not sanitary. The belt can be very slippery and can become a hazard over time if not taken care of. Just make sure you use a dry towel when wiping off the sweat left on your machine.

Dirt can cause problems as well. They can clog up the electronic equipment and cause problems for the belt. To avoid this from happening, the treadmill should be cleaned at least once a week. Just use a moist cloth to remove any dirt. It?s important that you don?t use any furniture polish for your machine. Remove the hood of the machine and wipe off any dirt there.
