It seems like in our current economic market, there are many people out there ready to make a quick buck on someone else’s misfortune, especially when it comes to real estate. As you drive around Orlando, you have probably seen those signs that say, “Buy my house” or “We Buy House”. In the back of your mind you wonder if it is really true or just a scam.

Over the last few decades, these signs have been around, but it seems as if in the current economic state they seem to be even more visible. The unfortunate thing is that anyone can slap one of these signs to a telephone pole and say they are a “real estate” investor. This creates a problem for those homeowners who need to find a quick way out of their home because it opens them up to even more stress and financial problems if they end up with an investor who doesn’t know what they are doing. Just because they put up the “Buy My House” sign on an Orlando telephone pole, it doesn’t mean they deserve a call or will work in your best interest.

Just like in any profession, there are the good, the bad, and the ugly. When the stakes are high and you need to sell your Central Florida home quickly no matter the reason, you can’t afford to work with the bad and ugly ones. No matter where in Central Florida whether it’s Orlando, Winter Park, Conway, Windermere, or Lake Mary, it is essential to know what to look for when choosing a real estate investment company.

Knowing what to look for in finding the right person to help you sell your home is the first step in avoiding a real estate nightmare. The process starts with the initial call. When you contact them, consider what type of response you receive during the conversation. Do they ask questions? Are they genuine while talking to you? What type of vibe are you getting from them?

After the initial phone call, you need to evaluate their follow up. Do they do what they say they are going to do? Are they available for additional calls? Did they arrive on time for appointments with you?

When you meet with them, make sure you ask questions and that they allow you the time that you need without feeling rushed. How long have they been in the industry? How many homes have they sold in the Central Florida area? Can they provide references? What are the fees involved?

The more checking you do on the investor the better off you will be. This is especially true if you need to sell your Central Florida home quickly. While it does not guarantee there will be no problems, it will certainly reduce the possibility that you will fall prey to someone who considers themselves to be an investor, but doesn’t have the credentials to support their claim.
