Choosing a TV Stand - By: Ronald Kresten

With such a wide variety of TV sizes and shapes in stores, buying a new TV often means that a new TV stand is also necessary. Particularly with many of us investing in Plasma TV’s, our old TV stands are too deep, aren’t wide enough or simply don’t have enough room for additional appliances, e.g. DVD players and games consoles. Here at The Plasma Centre, we understand that buying a TV can be expensive enough without having to pay a fortune for a TV stand too which is why we offer a fantastic selection of TV stands at affordable prices.

When choosing your TV stand, there are a few things you should take into consideration: Height – the height of your TV stand is important for comfort when watching TV as your TV should be at eye level so you don’t strain your neck when watching TV for long periods of time.

Width – don’t just measure the width of your television and presume a TV stand a little bit wider will be suffice. Don’t forget that you may have other additions to your TV that need including within this width; e.g. speakers. Equally, a TV stand that is too wide for you television set could end up swamping your television, making it look smaller and out of proportion. It is generally recommended that a TV stand around 25% wider than your television set will be adequate.

Compliances – if you’re a particularly hi-tech family and have the majority of gadgets to go with your television, e.g. DVD player, additional speakers and games consoles on top of that, then you will need to think of getting more than one shelf within your TV stand to include all of these appliances. Also make sure that your stand allows enough holes and room for you to place wires tidily through the back of your TV stand.
