Choosing a Cell Phone Charger - By: Eric Cohen

A Cell Phone car charger is a must have cell phone accessory. Find the information you need to make an educated decision when purchasing a cell phone charger for the car.

Choosing the right cell phone charger for use in the car can be a challenge. With the variety of new chargers on the market it can be difficult to determine which charger is the best fit for any particular situation. Consideration should also be given to the quality of charger as many phone manufacturers will not honor the warranty on the phone if an aftermarket charger damages the phone. Users should always look for chargers that provide a guarantee that the manufacturer will replace the phone if the charger damages it (the same guarantee manufacturers of the phones provide when used with their chargers). If a charger manufacturer is not providing this guarantee it is probably because the charger is substandard and likely to do damage to the device.
Some of the most popular new chargers are those with an additional USB port. The additional port can be great for charging another phone, music player or Bluetooth device. As with other chargers, the quality of the charger can make a big difference in how well these chargers work. A good charger will provide a solid charge to both devices at the same time. Many of the cheaper units will charge only one device at a time which can be a problem if you are using both the cell phone and other device. Look for chargers that provide a constant charge to all connected devices.
All-in-one chargers can also be a great option for those that want a charger they can use both in a home or office and in the car. These chargers can plug into a cars 12v power port as well as plug into a standard home or office socket. Good units have prongs that can flip out when needed and flip in when not being used. Some new versions include dual USB outlets so more than one device can be charged at a time in both the car and at home. As with the dual output car chargers, look for an all-in-one that will provide a charge to both devices at the same time.
Standard single port chargers are still very popular and can be the best option for those looking to save money. Standard chargers can be found for only a few dollars in many cases and generally work well. Because of the popularity of these types of chargers users should be extra careful in purchasing only those that have the guarantee not to damage the phone as mentioned before. This is also an area where OEM counterfeiting has become a problem. If purchasing an OEM charger, make sure it is from a trusted source that will guarantee it is authentic.
