It is no secret that diamond stud gold earrings can droop downward, or sit forward on a woman’s ear lobe. Investing in diamond earrings that do not fit well will have a sloppy appearance when worn. Most of the smaller diamond stones up to one carat would not cause many fitting problems due to them remaining lightweight.

However, if you are buying more than one carat or a pair of larger designer diamond earrings, carefully consider how the style of their setting would look when worn on a person’s earlobe. Some pairs of diamond studs earrings are mounted into what is generally known as a basket setting.

A basket setting evens out weight and allows a pair of earrings to display themselves straight forward when inserted into the earlobe. The basket itself is not solid and resembles a couple of hoops with four prong wires, whose job is to keep the diamond in the centre. One of the most difficult settings to find with diamond gold earrings is the ‘Martini’ style.

This style incorporates the diamond resting on the back of the settings, as near to the earlobes as you can get, fabulous for the larger gold earrings where the diamonds are more substantial. There is other alternative style settings known as the ‘euro wire’ which are popular with all gold earrings, this style can be referred to as lever backs. The euro wire or lever backs are considered a comfortable wear, and can be found in many styles of gold earrings. Once the wire is inserted through the earlobe they simply snap shut, resting just below the earlobes.
