Buying a new car is a major decision and people go to great lengths to research their buy and then chose the perfect one. Once a vehicle is purchased, you should always take care of the braking system and especially the brake pads. Now what are brake pads and how should we keep them in shape. Brake pads are flat metal things or plates that are fitted to the car wheels and they are in contact with the wheel disc. When the brake is applied, the come in contact and hold the wheel in between and work together to stop the vehicle.

Now when should we change the pads if they are worn? This can be done when you notice the wear and tear during servicing. Or if you hear a screeching noise when you apply brakes, it is a sign that brake lining has been completely eroded and needs remedial measures. This noise should not be ignored and brakes should be changed immediately.
One can change the pads through a mechanic or if you know a bit of car mechanics and servicing, you can do it yourself. It is not a complex task.
Always remember that if you brakes are perfect, your safety is ensured. Brakes mean stopping power and if you drive you have to stop. So drive safe and service those brakes!
