Chiropractic Care included on-site at Vancouver Games clinic. A first for Olympians - By: Dr. Steven Read

The world has begun to understand the importance of chiropractic to the health of everyone; especially the people in sports. This fact is well illustrated by the inclusion of on-site Chiropractic care in 2010 Olympic Vancouver Winter Games. It is the very first time in the history of the Olympic Games that chiropractors are included in the official on-site clinic of the Olympics.

It is already proven by several research studies and is also acknowledged by several famous athletes that chiropractic treatment is very useful and effective. Being a historical event for the chiropractic professionals, it is also a boon for the athletes who rely more on the safer and more effective way of treatment, which is known as chiropractic.

For obvious reasons, chiropractic becomes an ideal way of treatment for most of the athletes. The athletes aspiring to compete in the Olympic Games train hard, work hard and are prone to various injuries. This creates a demand for a suitable treatment methodology that only chiropractors can provide. It is because of the way chiropractic works; chiropractic care involves the spinal adjustments and reliance on the natural healing process of the human bodies. Chiropractic care can actually be the most suitable treatment to athletes and its inclusion for 2010 Olympic Vancouver Winter games is welcome news for the chiropractors and the athletes, both.

Chiropractic care, as a profession gaining popularity all over the world is expected to gain a further dimension because of its increased recognition and its clinic’s on-site presence at the Olympic Games. Although, chiropractic care had been the part of medical sports teams at Olympics in the past too (beginning from 1980s), but offering the complete suite of chiropractic care and facilities by having a chiropractic clinic is a first time event, and is likely to remain in Olympics.
