A new year often inspires people to change the look and feel of their home but with a financial hangover from Christmas celebrations January is often a time for financial recovery; this is where a cheap rug can be a great solution.

The Christmas decorations have been taken down and your home looks bare in comparison to the seasonal look it had adopted over the festive period. This is usually the time when you look around your home and start thinking of ways to brighten up the place.

With money being an issue in January for most families the urge to redecorate often gets pushed down the list of priorities but in the New Year it is a great opportunity for a fresh start and a fresh look. To minimise costs of changing the look and feel of your home, then go through the January sales and look for accessories like photo frames, ornaments and rugs, these can completely change the look of a room at very little expense.

A cheap rug in the sales can brighten up your home and wow your visitors who won’t be able to pin point the remarkable change in your decorations. Cheap rugs no longer mean they are poor quality and if you look after your rug you will find that it lasts well and is as durable and hard wearing as any designer or modern rug that you can buy.

Shaggy rugs are a good option if you have previously had a finer short fibred rug, they can completely change the look of your room making it inviting and cosy to your visitors. By introducing different textures such as a shaggy rug you add elements to your room and this creates a welcoming and ornate effect. Layers and textures in fabrics and materials like rugs and cushions can often give the impression that you have spent a lot of money on the decorations and no one has to know you bought them in the sales or bought a cheap rug rather than a more expensive designer rug.

So to get a new look for your home in the new year without breaking the bank opt for a good quality cheap rug or shaggy rug combined with accessories and ornaments you find in the sales and you can completely change the look of your room at a fraction of the price. Try using bold colours and patterns especially if you have neutral furniture, and if you decide in six months time you are bored of this adventurous look you can afford to change it again.
