With fifty groups parading, through the entire city over a route of four kilometers is the highlight of the carnival. It is conducted over three days and nights. The groups which perform in this Carnaval de Oruro festival showcase the different dance forms. They are accompanied by other bands. The dance forms include Diablada, Kantus, Caporales, Waca Waca and Kullawada. It also includes many other dance flavors like Llamerada, Morenada, Potolo, Suri Sikuris, Tinku, Pujllay and Tobas. The costumes of every participant are expensive which is specially designed by the experts.
More than 28000 dancers and around 10000 musicians are performed in the opening ceremony that lasts 20 hours. Some of the parade route is lined with bleachers. To get the desired seats, tickets are sold. Seats around central streets and main plaza are more desirable and expensive. In the Carnaval de Oruro, management teams arrange two plays such as reminiscent of medieval mystery plays. People are keen to watch this plays. These plays are enjoyed by younger and older both. The other play is based on the Spanish Conquest. There are many other plays which revolve around the historical battle between evil and good. The idea of this play was introduced by Catholic clergy in 1818.
