Caring for your printer - By: Arthor Greenwald

Printers can very quickly deteriorate when not appropriately cared for. Here are some guidelines as to how you can maintain your printer for greater lifetime value: Dot Matrix Printers The hard wearing dot matrix printer will need little maintenance and to keep it operating to full capacity you simply need to pay attention to the guide plates. The guide plates position the printing pins and they can wear out if ink and grit is allowed to build up. By replacing the printer cartridges in good time you can avoid the build up of grit and dirt on the ribbon which can move through to the guide plate.

Inkjet printers For inkjet printers you need to pay care and attention to the printer heads. There are many tiny pores within the printer head through which ink is sprayed from the ink cartridges. Over time ink can dry and form over these pores blocking them. To keep your inkjet printer working well take out the printer ink and wipe over the printer head using a moist cloth. When the printer head has dried the ink cartridges can be replaced. Again good printer maintenance also involves ensuring that printer ink is replaced when needed.

Laser printers Laser printers require care of several components the first important area being the rollers. These need cleaning from time to time with a moist cloth. You should also vacuum inside regularly to remove particles from the toner cartridges. By keeping the laser printer components maintained on a regular basis you can ensure that the laser printer continues to function optimally for the duration of its lifespan and that you get the best use from your toner cartridges. At Internet Inks we can provide guidance on a range of printer inks that are compatible with all the main brands of printer.
