Cape Wine Academy appoints Adinda Booysen as new MD - By: Cape Wine Academy

The Cape Wine Academy is proud to announce Adinda Booysen as its new Managing Director as of November 2011.

With her MBA from the University of Hull (UK) and IMM Graduate Diploma in Marketing in hand, Booysens also brings a wealth of knowledge of the wine industry to the Academy as she has approximately 22 years in various wine-marketing related roles at companies such as DGB, Boschendal Wine Estate and Vergelegen Wine Estate to name a few. She also spent 5 years as a partner in a Wine Distribution company.

Taking over from Marilyn Cooper, who is now CEO, Booysen’s main function will be to substantially market and grow the Academy’s core business overall in wine and hospitality education and training throughout South Africa and surrounding areas.

Founded in 1979, the Cape Wine Academy is recognised as the official wine education and training institution in South Africa and also offers the esteemed Cape Wine Masters™ and Cape Sommelier™ qualifications, which has seen a number of black sommeliers reach outstanding careers in 5-star hotels in and around South Africa and the world.

The Cape Wine Academy is the recognised leader in wine appreciation and wine education in South Africa.

The function of the Cape Wine Academy is the transfer of knowledge and skills to the individual wine enthusiasts, to current or future wine-related industry employees such as wine producers, tourism and hospitality students, and to tourism and retail trade by means of a range of education and training products/courses that promote and enhance the:

• Responsible consumption, appreciation and better understanding of wine at all levels of wine consumption
• Servicing wine in the hospitality and tourism sectors
• Selling wine in the wine producer and retail sectors
• Customer service in any wine-related environment

Since its inception 33 years ago, over 100 000 students have enrolled for various Cape Wine Academy courses throughout South Africa.
