Cannot Delete File from NTFS Volume After File System Structure Corruption - By: jacob Luis

When you run the ChkDsk utility for the affected volume, it may or may not repair the volume, but you will not be able to remove the file.

Root of the issue:

The problem may occur if MFT (Master File Table) of NTFS file system volumes is damaged. The long and short files name matches, which are stored in directory index record and file names which are stored in associated FRS (File Record Segment) have case-sensitive names that don't match. NTFS file system supports POSIX (case-sensitive file names), but the ChkDsk doesn't check case-sensitive file names.

Resolution:

To sort out this problem and carry out NTFS Partition Recovery, backup all your data and format the hard drive.
