In some instances, individuals do not have an enzyme which the body needs to digest lactose, which is the natural sugar contained in cows milk.As with some high fiber foods, the digestive system cannot properly digest the lactose with the result that it remains in the gut where it decomposes and results in the production of high amounts of hydrogen and carbon dioxide. This may also bring about painful cramps.

Apart from loud farts, the most embarrassing part of farting is the smell. It is the bacterial fermentation of particular substances in the large intestine that creates methane and hydrogen sulphide. The avoidance of specificfoods will certainly help diminish the smell. Common foods to avoid are garlic and onions, spices, some herbs, beer, wine and fruit juices. Indian food is especially prone to producing excess flatus because it contains asafoetida which produces particularly smelly flatus. Foods which are high in fat can also produce odorous gas.

There is much you can do to help alleviate your flatulence problem by making many minor improvements to your diet.
