COMMON SYMPTOMS OF THE SWINE FLU - By: Ron Heggemeier

We all have the fear of getting the swine flu and most of us want to know what are the common symptoms of the swine flu. Here are the most common ones that I have found in my research:

1. Sudden onset of chills and fever. Fever can run between 100F and 104F.
2. Runny nose or stuffy nose.
3. Having a headache.
4. Fatigue or extreme tiredness.
5. Head congestion.
6. Feeling congestion in your chest.
7. Having a sore throat.
8. Dry cough or coughing a lot.
9. Scratchy throat.
10. Body aches.

Some people who experience swine flu have additional symptoms in addition to the common symptoms of the swine flu listed above. These additional symptoms have included the following:

1. Diarrhea
2. Vomiting

Because all of the foregoing symptoms are very similar to the regular seasonal flu many people are unsure of which flu they have contracted. There is no safe way to tell for sure without seeking medical advice. The problem, however, is thinking you have the seasonal flu instead of the more deadly swine flu. Therefore here are some more serious signs of the swine flu:

1. Lack of fluid intake – not wanting to drink enough fluids.
2. Sudden or rapid onset of dizziness.
3. Developing a rash along with the fever.
4. Labored or difficult breathing – sometimes this can be fast breathing.
5. Severe vomiting over a period of time.

In children the following symptoms are especially serious
:
1. Difficulty in waking up after a nap or nightly sleep.
2. Grayish or bluish skin color.
3. Not interacting in activities or non-responsive behavior.
4. Being irritable.

If you have any of the more serious symptoms in addition to the common symptoms of the swine flu you need to seek medical attention as soon as possible. Remember that all of us are unique as individuals and we will most likely have a different combination of symptoms than someone else we know who has the swine flu.
