A big feature of the CES show was Internet connected TV. From the DivX player letting you watch content from the Internet to your tv with no additional hardware required. Then we had Yahoo going big on widgets via its Connected TV service, Yahoo lets users with Internet connected televisions to do things like make a playlists, chat about a show they are watching with friends on Facebook and Twitter. Check out the weather or stock quotes and a million other apps that will be coming soon. If you have an iPhone, you know what it will kind of be.
Then there is another TV App product for the Internet TV market from Samsung, who is copying the “app store” concept from Apple to create a marketplace for applications to run straight on your tv set. The beauty is that as there are always new apps for the iPhone, expect Samsung and its application makers to provide you with everything from weather to games to streaming movies from Netflix.
Then of course, there is Microsoft. The company’s CEO Steve Ballmer devoted a significant portion of his opening keynote speech to Xbox Live, its platform that connects the console to the Web for social gaming and other forms of digital content.
In the future, Xbox Live will become a platform for much more going head on with other companies looking to capitalize on the Internet connected TV trend.
If we could see into the future, we would see that the Internet is becoming almost as common, prolific and necessary as electricity and will all the new gadgets and gizmos dependent upon it, will soon become our fourth utility.

If you go down to the CES show today, you will notice a growing trend. Blu-ray dvd players are becoming more than just a snazzy looking HD DVD player. They are becoming a platform for IPTV, internet tv services. The show has had announcements from many big companies commiting to the Blu-ray cause. DivX showed off its new DivX TV platform at the show which will bring Internet content to your tv via a Blu-ray player. More Widgets From BluTV
Dreamer have debuted its Blu-ray powered IPTV concept Blu-TV. The concept is simple, once their software is loaded it turns any BD-Live capable Blu-ray player (such as PS3) into a video and interactive content gateway anyone can develop apps for. The apps will be similar to the Yahoo Widgets concept. There are a selection of video services, apps and social networks available in a similar way to .
Existing owners can obtain the service by updating the firmware in their player. BluTV currently has available 20 games such as chess, and a selection of different widgets.
