CBSE MATHS - By: jhon mathew

Normally Students have phobia for maths subject. But CBSE has framed its syllabus and teaching methodology in such a way that maths is no longer be toughest subject for them. CBSE has decreased the burden of the students by introducing the semester system. Due to which the syllabus of maths, hence burden of students decreased to 50%. Because 50% syllabus is shared in SA-I and 50% in SA-II. Now students don’t need to revise the full syllabus in the final exams.

CBSE maths is better than all other board’s maths. Because it is not only emphasizing on theory but also on practicals through various activities like maths projects, proficiency test etc. It also refer NCERT books for boards and competitions to their students which are written by experienced and intellectual professors. Because without referring NCERT board book and NCERT exemplar, nobody can think to clear any future competitive exam like IIT-JEE, AIEEE, BITSAT.

Moreover, CBSE has covered all the important topics of maths in the syllabus according to the standard of the students. So that students can learn or grasp easily in their age. For example Real number, Polynomials, Introduction to Euclid Geometry, lines & Angles, Triangles, coordinate Geometry, Area of triangle by heron’s formula and its application , Quadrilateral, Area, Circles, Construction, Surface area & volume, statistics and probability in 9th standard. In 10th standard, same chapters with some higher level and some new chapter like trigonometry (Introduction, identities and height & distance), Statistics etc are added.

Besides this, Evaluation scheme of the performance of student is really appreciable. CBSE introduced formative assessments in its summative assessment to check the performance continuously. Now total result of the student’s performance is not totally depend on their final exam but on the class performance also. Because maths is the subject in which the student’s performance cannot evaluated through final exam. For example if student is not able to give exam due to some unavoidable reasons like accident, illness etc, then it doesn’t mean that student doesn’t know anything of maths or student is realy fail because he is not able to appear in final exam. CBSE is also famous for step-wise marking in maths exam. Examiner doesn’t cross the solution if the answer is wrong. He has to check it step by step and gives the marks on the basis of written formula and steps which are correct in solution.

Furthermore, CBSE has introduced maths projects in its curriculum for using maths in practical file. Now students make projects on the basis of concept used in each chapter in their syllabus.
For example: How to make Solar cooker by using concept of parabola? For knowing, refer online guidance Pioneer Mathematics.

In addition to maths projects, CBSE introduced maths proficiency test to check knowledge of concepts/principals and techniques of mathematics, ability to solve problems requiring the application and interconnection of maths knowledge, ability to solve problems requiring numerical data-interpretation etc, ability to apply the cbse maths knowledge to analyze relevant daily life situations and draw appropriate inferences, ability to reason mathematically etc.
For example: Three villages are located at the three corners of the triangle. Dispensary has to open at the equal distance from each village. Then at which point of the triangle Dispensary should be located?
(a) Incenter (b) Centroid (c) Orthocenter (d) Circumcenter
