Buying Strollers For Babies - By: Cathy McGovern

Whenever we have twin babies and we are required to get a infant stroller, we are required to do some research before we buy. There are so many different types of stroller in the stores that it can seem an inconceivable undertaking to choosing the right one for your needs.

We all take the safety of our children seriously and so we should take time to choose the suited one for them. We are required to think about how we are going to use our new stroller.

Using the Stroller

Think about how frequently you will use the infant stroller and where you will ordinarily be using it. E.g.: will you be using the stroller on rough terrain or on paved surfaces? Will you be transporting it in a motorcar?

Where the stroller is going to be used will have a major influence on the type of stroller we end up choosing.

Once we have chosen where we are going to use the stroller, the other choices become a little easier.

Stroller Dimensions

By size, we are not talking about seat size. How much space do you have in your car? Will the stroller physically fit into the auto when it is folded? If your motorcar is modest, then it likely has a little trunk. Can the wheels be taken off effortlessly? Taking off the wheels can make a big difference to the size.

Tandem or Side by Side

Bear in mind that a side by side stroller can be tricky to manoeuvre through the isles in stores due to the excess width. Tandem strollers are better for this type of use. However, it should be noted that in a tandem stroller, the toddler in the rear seat has a limited view.

How easy is the stroller to fold?

Strollers can be quite difficult to fold. If you are going to be folding the stroller regularly, it is indispensable that you find 1 that folds easy.

Stroller weight

Single stroller are lighter than double strollers. Double strollers can be fairly heavy. As a rule, the heavier they are, the sturdier they are but you have to draw a line somewhere. Make sure you can lift the stroller into your motorcar. What about going up and down stairs? Check the stroller's weight and make sure that you can lift it.

Wheels

Big wheels will limit the maneuverability of the stroller however they improve ride comfort whenever going over rough ground. Little wheels are better on paved surfaces. There are 2 types of tyre - solid and air filled. Pneumatic (or air-filled) tires are softer for going over bumps. Solid tires will never have a puncture or go flat.

Maneuverability

How easy is the stroller to push? It can be useful to take the stroller for a quick walk around the store before you purchase it. This way you can see what it is like to steer. This will give you a good idea as to the width and ease of use of the stroller in tight spots.

Canopy

Check that there is a big canopy or sun shade that is easily adjusted. This is vital as you will want to protect your toddler from the weather and the harmful effects of the sun. Make sure to test this feature before you purchase a stroller.

Accessability

Check out the adjustment features of the seats, hood, handle etc.
