Business websites should include content, content, content. When search engines, like Google or Yahoo, rank a web site for their results list, one of the most important factors in that ranking is the content on the site. This, unfortunately, may not make sense for some business, since the products or services being offered do not lend themselves to a great deal of content. For most businesses, though, this is not the case and the more content they can provide for their customers the better. In order to optimize your business web site you need to constantly update the site with new, relevant data. Below are some types of content that you may want to consider adding to your business web site, to help optimize your search engine rankings.

Blogging is a great way to keep your customers up to date with the latest information about your business, your products or services. If you are going to include a blog you should update it as frequently as possible, at least once a week, since the blog will loose its importance if the information posted is old.

Article collections- You can choose to use these articles as resources on your web page. Be sure to categorize them using your keywords and update them continuously.

The more customer input you can include on your web site, the better. Your customers will appreciate the fact that you include content generated by other customers, since this will allow them to see what your those customers think of your business and your products or services.

Include information about other business that are affiliated with your business, and encourage your affiliates to do the same. If there are products or service you do not provide yourself, but you work with another company that does provide them, you can include information about that company, and a link to their site. Your customers will appreciate the fact that you are providing this information to them, and this may lead to them coming back to you when they need the products or services you provide. If your affiliates do the same then this will mean more business for you, from the traffic that is directed to your web site from theirs.

These are just some helpful tips when you are considering what content to include on your business web site. The more content you provide related to your business, your industry, your products or your services, the higher your search engine rankings will be. The higher your ranking the higher up your web site will be on the search engine results list, which should translate into more visitors to your site, and hopefully more business for your company.
