Burton Gloves - A Review Of The 2012 Collections - By: Tom Stevens

More than 30 years ago, a carpenter by the name of Jake Burton was sitting in his garage, dreaming about a mountain full of powder snow. He wasn't a big fan of the traditional alpine skis and wanted something that could make him more in touch with the snow and able him to perform tricks. After hours of thinking and doing, the first Burton snowboard was born. Since then, Burton has become the biggest brand name in a multi-million dollar industry, and continue to create new and exciting products that a snowboard enthusiast can't be without. This article will take a closer look at Burton gloves to discover what sets them apart from other brands and why they are the best option for anyone who desire the perfect combination of warmth and flexibility.

Burton gloves are well known for their amazing insulation. Many other brands also offer gloves that keep you warm, however most times it is at the expense of movement of the gloves. Burton has managed to create gloves that do both. They keep you dry and toasty in any kind of weather, plus allows you to do tighten up your bindings, zip up your jacket or lace up your boots without having to take your gloves off.

There are a huge number of Burton gloves out there, each filling a certain need for the snowboard enthusiast. To make things as easy as possible for you, the reader, I have created a sub-heading for each collection that Burton is currently offering. Hopefully, this will make it easier for you to decide on which gloves might suit your style and needs.

AK Collection

This collection is the latest in Burton's range and they also offer the latest in glove and insulation technology. These gloves are made up of three layers of GORE-TEX® plus a PrimaLoft® insulation which is made up of three layers of goose feathers. In addition to being super warm, water and wind proof, these gloves are also very light weight. Like any human being, these gloves can breathe, which means your hands will not sweat inside them and you can wear them summer and winter.

Hi 5 Collection

The Hi 5 collection contains gloves that are affordable whilst still keeping you warm during the most hostile conditions. It has specialised gloves for photographers and those needing to operate equipment like a two-way radio on the mountain. This collection has both mitts and gloves for men and women.

Premium Collection

As you may have guessed, the Premium collection is just that, premium. They are made using a waterproof membrane technology called DRYRIDE Insane Membrane™ and some of the gloves in this collection comes with a remote iPhone or iPod built in to the glove. What this means for you as a rider is that all you have to do is tap the glove to change the song of the iPod or iPhone in your pocket.

Seasons Pass Collection

This collection suits a rider on a budget that still wants a great glove. They are made with GORE-TEX® waterproof membrane that breathes and a Thermacore™ and DRYRIDE Thermex™ inner lining which means they will dry in a jiffy.
