While working in the corporate world we tend to meet various kinds of people. Each one is a different person and has his or her own temperament and attitude. Of course being an organization we do not have the luxury to choose our own teammates as we have the choice to choose our friends. Hence we have to work with all sorts of people and adjust with them and acclimatize as soon as possible. Of course since it is a corporate atmosphere and there is cut throat competition people vie for the attention of their bosses and this sometimes leads to things that may not be always to our liking and fair. Plus since competition is so immense these days that people go in for a kill. This sometimes leads to bullying and harassment at the workplace. This is bad but unfortunately true. It is a phenomenon that does exist in the corporate world. With different people in a group this is an unfortunate thing.

Bullying and harassment is a phenomenon that everyone has faced sometime or the other. There are some people who will bully you and harass you so that attack your morale and try and de motivate you so that they score on front of their bosses. In some cases people enjoy teasing others and take pleasure out of it. So how should we react when we face such a situation at workplace? Should we lose our temper and catch the bull by its horn or should we be patient and tackle the situation. Well our suggestion is that be patient and handle this situation with care. It is a matter of your job and acting hastily can prove harmful. So the best way to deal such bullying and harassment is to first speak to the person who is doing this. Try and speak your heart out to him and ask him why that person is behaving that way.

One thing should be kept in mind is that workplace bullying and harassment should not be mixed with a harsh comment or a negative feedback. What is needed to be understood here is that a harsh comment by your seniors or colleagues should be misunderstood to be a bullying or harassment. There are all chances that your boss or colleagues may be nasty people personally and they may pass on a nasty comment on you. In such cases we have to be mature enough to understand that this is not bullying and harassment and just a snobbish nature of our colleagues. Especially in the case of performance appraisal and feedback there are chances that your manager may try his or her favorite to get a better promotion and increment and that time may try to demean your performance and this might take an ugly shape sometimes. In such situation we have to assess our situation in the company and then decide to take this matter to the higher authorities. All said and done it is imperative that we handle this situation with aplomb and not let it hamper our work.
