A maze in a garden is a magnificent way of spending priceless time with family. It gives a feeling of satisfaction of being able to make one’s own home beautiful without taking too much help from others and gaining praise from neighbors. Mazes are available in many types ranging from simple to complex ones. A maze depends on the number of paths leading to the center and also paths that divide into other directions leading to dead ends. They are mostly found in recreational and residential areas and are exclusively for entertainment and decoration purposes. Hotel gardens and shopping malls build these mazes to attract more visitors. First, a spot has to be selected in the home, a sunny, spacious and open spot is preferred. Then, the type of desired maze should be decided. It can be a simple one having only one path from start to end or it can be a complicated one with several pathways leading to the end followed by several branches of dead ends. Once the type of maze has been decided, make a rough sketch of the maze on a graph paper with right scales in place. One can always choose from a variety of plants from corns and flowers for a garden maze or it can be opted for the conventional choice. An initial pattern layout of the maze should be made on the selected ground by using either a string or a rope. It should be ensured that the paths have to be wide enough for walking.

Next, you can start to grow plants which are preferred for forming the maze walls. The most important thing to note is to plan a good drainage system for the maze. Digging shallow ditches at the side of the paths should be considered or a slight rise in the center of the paths can be made. Last point which should not be forgotten after all the effort, the maze needs to be tended at least once in a week. Plants are needed to be trimmed from time to time for ensuring that they do not overgrow. If the path is made from grass, the weeds have to be pulled out and mowed from it as often as possible.
