Budapest Weekends – Culture, Clubbing and more - By: Jessica Thomson

The capital of Hungary, Budapest is a beautiful central European city. The River Danube runs through Budapest dividing the city into what was once Buda and Pest. This Eastern city is a relatively new tourist destination and each year thousands of tourists, family, honeymooners, stags and hens alike, visits Budapest to enjoy its thriving nightlife and cultural history.
Budapest is quickly becoming a popular European weekend getaway. The city displays a rich historical past and is the seat of a thriving social culture. Great architectural specimens coexist with crowded local markets, luxury resorts with cheap lodging options, and sophisticated entertainment venues with burlesque bars and nightclubs. If you are looking for a relaxing but exciting short holiday, Budapest Weekends could be the perfect start to discovering something out of the ordinary.
Connecting the once Buda and Pest is the Chain Bridge across the Danube. In the Old Buda hilly region, cobblestoned paths will lead you to The Fisherman’s Bastian in Castle Hill area and you will find the Matthias Church here. There is also the Royal Palace in Castle District that has a huge library and two museums and will satisfy your queries on Hungarian history. The Budapest Statues Park in The Citedella and the Andrassy Street, the biggest avenue in the city, is worth a visit.
A view of Budapest from the Castle Hill is especially beautiful. The city is dotted with wonderful old and contemporary architecture and spots of lush green. The waterfall overlooking River Danube adds to the beauty of Budapest.
In cosmopolitan Pest, you will find the Gothic Parliament building, St. Stephen church, and many museums and huge city squares.
There are over 1000 restaurants and eateries in Budapest spa that offer traditional Hungarian to European to multicultural cuisines. You will find plenty of food choices, both in price and taste, on your Budapest Weekend.
Note however, only the popular restaurants keep menu cards in foreign languages. Most local restaurants have Hungarian prints that are difficult to understand if you are not familiar with the same.
By night, you will find several vibrant nightclubs and bars in the city. There are beer gardens, open-air dance clubs and pubs that guarantee heady excitement for not just stags, but hens too. The Danube bank has many underground bars and pubs and Party Island is the popular cocktail and strip clubs venue.
Note, while there are plenty of options to go out and enjoy Risqué Company, there are some seriously dodgy strip bars that you should avoid. Additional, women should not venture too deep into the city at night, but stick to the crowded areas.
Budapest has only recently become a popular stag and hen party destination and there are several options for games and entertainment.
Stags can indulge in sports like Quad biking, Trabant driving, Pistol shooting and River cruising. Hens can enjoy the Thermal Spa, rounding off their Budapest Weekend with some great shopping.
