Brazil Travel Guide and Attractive Beaches in Brazil - By: Dr. Lee Mikal

Sprawling across half of South America, Brazil has captivated travelers for at least 500 years. Powdery white-sand beaches, lined with palm trees and fronting a deep blue Atlantic, stretch for more than 7000km.

Dotting this coastline are tropical islands, music-filled metropolisesand enchanting colonial towns. Inland, Brazil offers dazzling sights of a different flavor: majestic waterfalls, red-rock canyons, and crystal-clear rivers – all just a small part of the natural beauty.

As time went by, the number of people that enjoyed this novelty began to increase; its preparation was improved and the meat was handled more hygienically. Little by little the churrasco (barbeque) became one of the most famous and liked dishes in the gaucho region.

In the 1960s, the rodizios (the serving of a variety of meats at the table) became the main attraction in the State of Rio Grande do Sul menus, especially in restaurants located along the side of the roads, which are basically truck stops – the ones who disseminated the novelty to the rest of Brazil.

There is nothing in the whole wide world like Carnival in Rio. Brasilia, the capital city of the country, is known by its great architecture. It is a planned city.

The most up-and-coming resort in Brazil is now the small friendly Praia de Pipa, in the NE of the country; serviced by international airports at Natal and Recife, this small town is popular with both Brazilians and foreign tourists.

The laid back attitude of the open and friendly locals makes this a welcome change to some of the more recognised but less safe and inviting destinations.

In Southern Brazil you can visit the state of Santa Catarina, which is visited every year by people who prefer not too crowded spots like major cities or places where all tourists go.

Brazil Beaches

To visit Brazil is like having visited several different countries, because Brazil is a continent by itself, with different cultures, languages, history, architecture, gastronomy, etc., but unified by a common thread: the beauty of its beaches.

If you come from the north, a good starting point on the beach road will be Fortaleza. Known by its tropical beaches and charming locals, this fantasy place was the origin of several books of popular Brazilian stories and romance.

At this point you'll find two of the best beaches from Brazil: Jericoacoará, considered the place to visit if you want to see some of the most spectacular sunsets in Brazil; and Canoa Quebrada, a small and old village on a cliff, discovered by hippies in the 70's.

Close by is Natal, also with a good variety of beaches, and recently a popular honeymoon destination. There are other Brazilian beaches nearby, such as Praia de Pipa, with an incredible turquoise colored sea, frequented by dolphins and turtles.

Best Time to Visit Brazil

The 5th largest country in the World, Brazil is home to the Amazon Jungle and the Amazon River and also has an Atlantic coastline stretching almost 7,500 kilometers.

Brazil is home to numerous exotic animals and birds, mostly found in the Pantanal Wetland area bordering Bolivia in the west of the country.

The Amazon is also home to millions of creatures great and small, but they are sometime harder to see due to the thickness of the forest, but it is still an amazing experience. So when is the best time to visit Brazil?

There is no bad time – when you travel should be dependent on what you would like to do.
