Brand New To Save Discounts, For Seniors, and tips for your Travel fun savings And Money - By: Florence Islip

How to get to your cruise for less

Traveling to your departure port can sometimes be more costly than the cruise itself. Booking your cruise around a time when air travel is least expensive may be the best way to save money on your trip. Be mindful of the nearest departure port to where you live so you can drive or fly a shorter distance. As with any travel, the further out that you can book the trip, usually the better deal you will get. All-inclusive travel deals or discounted packages are sometimes available through the travel company you book your cruise through. Be sure to find the best flight deal and cruise deal combination, comparing multiple departure ports. Research flight dates as well, a flight a day prior and a stay in a hotel or with family may be cheaper than flying on the day of your departure. Researching deal packages and travel separate from the cruise will allow you to find the best possible rate and save a good deal of money.

Getting the most out of your excursion dollar

Finding the best activities off the ship while keeping your budget in mind can be a tricky thing to do. A vacation is a place for new experiences and fun. If you're on a budget you're going to have to dig around to find deals on the premier excursions. Always look early to find cruise packages with on shore excursions included. If you couldn't find a cruise with great excursions included, research and find 2-3 private on shore excursion companies. Being adventurous can also pay off by trekking to distant or remote excursions that most on the ship won't even know of. Also, getting out into the cities and away from the ship is a great way to find discounted tours or activities. Planning and researching will help keep the most money in your pocket. Getting back to your ship after it's left the port can be hard to do and very expensive.

Using your rewards to cruise

Taking advantage of travel rewards to pay for your cruise is easier than you think. Yet we continue to use our credit cards to buy clothes, pay for vacations or we don't use them at all. Where we fail to take advantage of our debt is from the rewards that credit card companies we're already using offer to us. When you're booking your cruise and you have to pay out of your cash, remember that you could have earned miles if paid for on a credit card. Some offers only allow you to travel during a certain time of the year and some only give you rewards for other travel purchases or certain items that you buy. Make all your purchases for 6 months on a credit card, and then use what you've earned in miles to pay for your cruise. There are so many ways to accumulate these miles; you'd be wasting money if you don't do it.

Saving money by avoiding travel

Finding ways to save on your cruise can be difficult and too small to justify the work needed to save. Or you could simply avoid all of the sacrificing simply by traveling closer to home. This can be countered by finding the closest departure ports to home. Avoid setting your mind to traveling to one specific location, as the transportation to the departure port may be too expensive. If you live by a departure port that doesn't travel to an ideal location, or is simply out of season, you may find discounts by traveling out of that port. Transportation, hotels and time spent traveling to your departure location may cost more than the cruise itself. If you have a budget in mind, research your options online and find the closest departure port. If staying close to home saves you more money than expected, you can use the extra money to upgrade your room or excursions. Taking a cruise may be pointless if the cost of getting to your departure port costs too much.
