Your brace specialist will inform you on when to put on your retainer and for how long which could be a period of six months or two years. It all depends on your teeth.
When you have braces they magnet food, this therefore implies that you need to clean your teeth properly. Brushing extra carefully so that any food stuck in the braces is removed. You do not need to go on a diet with braces but staying away from some particular foods will be good as they stock on the braces often. Such foods as pop corn, hard or sticky candy, and sugary candy too can be a problem.
