Best coffee espresso maker gives you pressure! - By: Ebenezer

If you are looking for a best coffee espresso maker, the important element is the espresso. This is because, a machine that can brew great espresso, cannot go very wrong with its regular coffee.

Similarly, if a brewer has lousy espresso, you can forget about great coffee. So, what is the key thing to note when it comes to espresso? Some people would tell you the grind, the tamping and other stuff, while all these are important; I personally feel that the one thing that can ruin the whole brew is the pressure.

In fact, it is the pressure sort of extraction method that differentiates an espresso from a regular coffee, so the pressure which the coffee is being extracted should be top most concern.

The rule of thumb for a good espresso extraction is 12 bar, anything lower than that would give you what I call a lifeless coffee. This is an espresso that is not intense and very diluted.

In fact, I would strongly recommend you to go for brewer that can extract espresso at above 12 bar, the best is it can attain a 15 bar extraction.

This is because, the pressure is sometimes used to froth the milk for the cappuccino and the pressure would be slightly lower when it is multi tasking, so a higher pressure would ensure a better brew.

As to the type of espresso makers you should look out for, I would say anything that is pump driven should give you a pressure of at least 12 bars, and if you are serious about espresso, avoid steam driven machine.

There is another type of stovetop espresso maker, but because they are not group under the machine category, I do not think you would be looking at them. The ones that are very similar to the commercial espresso maker that are retailing at a fraction of the price is the steam driven espresso machine.

Their only value adds is their low pricing. But, if you want to get something that is in the lower price tier, my suggestion is to go for a high quality drip filter coffee maker rather than a low end espresso maker.

If you asked me for a specific brand, my choice would be the Saeco Odea. You might say that I am biased, but I am giving the thumbs up for this brewer mainly because of its operation ease and I am also very taken with the look and feel of this espresso maker.

Some of you might say that look and feel cannot contribute anything to the final brew, but those that have spend thousands on their renovation would agreed with me that fitting in to your kitchen decor is an important factor.

However, my choice of the Saeco was first and foremost because of its 15 bar pressure that it is able to produced when extracting an espresso. So, as highlighted in the title, the best coffee espresso maker is the one that can give you good pressure!
