Have you lost all the important drivers from the system, after the reformat or the repair? It is very essential to install the missing drives of the system, so as the hardware devices function properly. But drivers are within the system and simple steps are required to be followed for installing them again.

The drivers are basically programs that communicate with the computer so that a device is functioning with the operating system of the computer. Various hard drives which are required to be installed in the system are video cards, audio devices, the Ethernet adapters etc.

Steps for reinstalling the missing drivers in the system

First of all check the status of the hard drive devices, by clicking on the “Start” tab on the left side of the screen and then selecting the option of “Control Panel”. On this select the option of “System” and then under the “Hardware” tab, select the option for “Device Manager”.

You will have to scroll through the list for getting the hardware devices, and the yellow question mark or the exclamation point, on the side of the name of the device, indicates its problem.

Right click on the devices and then select the option for “Properties”. Look for the status of the device under the tab of “General”. In case any of the drivers is missing in the system, you will receive the status "the device is not working properly." This is an indication that the driver is not installed, the driver is corrupted, or the device is malfunctioned.

Select the option of “Details” and check all the details of the device, this is required for the search of the driver for the device. The hardware devices come with the installation CD, in case you have lost the same or it is damaged, you can download it from the websites. In case you require suggestions for the same, you can take assistance from the online PC tech support websites by various remote computer repair companies.

For the installation, place the CD on the optical drive and then you will have to run the installer. For those who don’t have the same, go to the manufacturer’s website, download the EXE file, and then save it in the local drive of the computer. If still you are not getting the installer, search through the various download sites and then save it.

After this process, run the EXE file and then install the driver. Follow the prompts and restart the system.

Go to ”Device Manager” again and check whether the yellow exclamation mark has been removed. If it is not present, it indicates that the installation is successful. On the status of the device, right click will open the option for “Properties” and then under the “General” tab, check the status of the device.

If it is showing again that "The device is working properly", it is required to update the device driver. For this on the “driver” button, select “Update driver” and then follow the instruction of "Update Hardware Wizard".

Restart the computer as this process is complete. If the problem is still not fixed, you can take assistance from the tech support companies available online.
